On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I'm happy to announce that Spring Web Services 5.1.0-M1 has been released and is now available from Maven Central.

This release includes 13 enhancements, dependency upgrades, and bug fixes. Notable new features include:

  • Observability support, integrating with the Micrometer Observation API for metrics and tracing of web service exchanges.
  • Unmarshalling SOAP headers into custom types with @SoapHeader, no longer limited to SoapHeaderElement.
  • WS-Security support for fault responses, for clients that require security headers on every response.
  • Alignment with Spring Framework 7.1 and Spring Security 7.1.

Please see the release notes for more details and upgrade instructions.

Thanks to all those who have contributed with issue reports and pull requests.
