On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I'm pleased to announce the second milestone of the 2026.1.0 release train.

This milestone includes the following highlights:

• Initial JPA 4.0 compatibility (using Hibernate 8.0.0.Beta1) while retaining the JPA 3.2 baseline.
• Performance refinements in Spring Data JPA JPQL parsers.
• Redis JSON API refinements.
• Spring Data Relational fully supports Unicode database identifiers.

As part of our migration for stricter web payload projections, web handler method parameters must be annotated with @ProjectedPayload to enable projection proxying. Unannotated parameters are no longer proxied.
