Stéphane Nicoll

Stéphane is an experienced software engineer and open source contributor with a strong focus on Java enterprise development, software architecture, and technical leadership. Over the years, he has contributed to and led a wide range of initiatives, including the development of critical infrastructure in logistics and geospatial systems, as well as the design of enterprise frameworks widely adopted across the industry.

Stéphane is a core contributor to the Spring Framework and Spring Boot open source projects, and previously led Spring Initializr and start.spring.io, supporting developers worldwide in getting started with Spring. As a former member of the Apache Maven PMC, he has been actively involved in open source software governance and evolution for two decades.

As a member of the Spring team, Stéphane has had the privilege of working on various aspects of Spring Boot and Spring Framework, with a focus on understanding its inner workings and collaborating with the fantastic community of contributors.

Spring Web Services 4.1.0 available now

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I'm happy to announce that Spring Web Services 4.1.0 has been released and is now available from Maven Central.

This release adds a number of new features and improvements. For full upgrade instructions and new and noteworthy features please see the release notes.

What's new in 4.1

The highlights of the 4.1 release include:

  • Apache Axiom Support has been restored
  • Support for WSS4J v4
  • Support for Configuring Arbitrary WSS4J Options
  • More Flexible HTTP Message Sender

Dependency upgrades

Spring Web Services 4.1.0-M1 available now

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I'm happy to announce that Spring Web Services 4.1.0-M1 has been released and is now available from https://repo.spring.io/milestone.

This first release includes 16 enhancements, documentation improvements, dependency upgrades, and bug fixes. Notable new features include:

  • Support for Apache Axiom has been restored now that it supports Jakarta.
  • Apache WSS4J has been upgraded to 4.0.0.

Spring Web Services 4.1.x is based on Spring Framework 6.2.x and Spring Security 6.5.x and will be the LTS in that line.

Spring Framework 7.0.0-M2 Available Now

If you've missed it, we now ship milestones to the usual repo.spring.io artifact repository, but also to Maven Central.
