Welcome to another installment of This Week in Spring! This week I'm in Brisbane, Australia, on the second leg of the YOW! conference circuit. If you're around, please say hi or find me when YOW! moves to Sydney in a few days.
We've got a lot to cover so let's get to it!
- If you're not up to date with JUnit 5.0 and Spring Framework, this is a must - see talk from Sam Brannen at Swiftmind
- good news! the webinar introducing CQRS with Axon and Spring Boot that Axon lead and founder Allard Buijze and I delivered is now online
- Spring Integration lead Gary Russell just announced Spring Integration 5.0 M1. This release features a lot of nice new features and simplifies some older ones. One of my favorite features: it packages the Java DSL in the framework itself now, instead of a separate release! Get the bits, kick the tires.
- Janne Valkealahti has just announced Spring Statemachine 1.2.0.RC1. This release has lots of small enhancements and bug fixes as well as new APIs for tracing and monitoring and full support for repositories in Redis, MongoDB, and JPA.
- This upcoming webinar on tools you should know about to level up your microservices architecture, above and beyond base-Spring Cloud, is a must-see!
- Check out this SpringOne Platform talk on building modern Spring applications with Angular.js
- Check out Phill Webb's talk on the new testing capabilities of Spring Boot 1.4
- Check out Netflix Zuul lead Mikey Cohen's talk introducing Zuul from SpringOne Platform 2016
- last week, continuing the Spring Tips series, I looked at how to take (and when not to take) advantage of JTA (as represented by the XOpen protocol) in Spring applications
- check out this replay of Dan Wood's great SpringOne Platform talk introducing Ratpack
- this blog post from Simon Wardley is an oldie-but-a-goodie: how Cloud Foundry will save the world from Yak Shaving
- Richard Seroter has a nice post on using Concourse CI to continuously deliver a Service Bus-powered Java (Spring Boot)-based application to Pivotal Cloud Foundry on Microsoft Azure
- Former SpringSourcer Rob Harrop from SkipJaq spoke at SpringOne Platform 2016 about Reactive programming and microservices, very popular talk from Spring I/O Barcelona and S1P
- RedHat's Dr. Mark Little reviews engineer Piotr Gankiewicz's journey to microservices in this fascinating InfoQ post
- the last Redis RC is out, packed with lots of features!
